About Angela R. Jones, J.D.

Her interdisciplinary approach to education

Angela R. Jones is a native Washingtonian and a resident of Prince George’s County for 30 years. Born during the baby boomers' generation, she is a mother of two and a grandmother of one. Her strong characteristics have earned her the nicknames Chief or Sergeant from family and friends. Angela is known as a robust leader, a strong team player, and strives to accomplish her goals through consensus-building and trustworthiness.

Angela holds an associate degree in Nursing from the former Georgetown School of Science and Arts, and a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with an emphasis on Criminal Investigation from Kaplan University. Driven by a passion for serving others and making a difference, she pursued her lifelong dream and earned a Juris Doctor Degree from Concord Law School at Purdue University.

With more than 20 years of professional experience in the political arena, Angela began her career in Maryland, the Town of Capitol Heights Municipality, where she served as both Deputy Town Administrator and Certified Town Clerk. She later worked as Director of Constituent Services for former County Council Member Obie Patterson, District 8, and as Director of Public Affairs with the then State Senator Obie Patterson in the Maryland General Assembly. Angela also served as Director of Constituent Services under former Vice Chair Sydney J. Harrison in Council Manic District 9. She currently holds a Legislative Director position in the Maryland General Assembly.

Angela has been an active member of various unions, including ASFME Local 2401, the Fraternal Order of Police, District of Columbia-Local #1, and the National Union of Protective Services Associations (NPUSA). She embraces organizational roles that involve working with people and operational systems.

She previously held a seat on the Prince George’s County Democratic Central Committee, serving as the At-Large Member for Legislative District 26 and as Co-Chair for the By-Laws Committee. She also served on the PGCDCC’s Executive Committee as Secretary and as a member of the Democratic Party's Sexual Harassment Policy Team. Angela is a former member of the South County Democratic Club and aspires to continue her support for the Party and make a significant impact in the Prince George’s community by securing a seat on the Prince George’s County School Board from District 8.
